nuke 5 wipe gizmo

nuke-logoWhile I was working on adding a clip to my website, I decided to try to figure out how to do a screen wipe right inside Nuke 5. While there is a wipe in the viewer, I could not find an existing node or gizmo, so I decided to create one myself. What I ended up doing, was created a group of nodes, which used the crop node to crop two images over time. It seems to work fairly well, and you can see it in action by looking at my previous post here.

Here is the node graph:

Please feel free to download and improve this gizmo. The gizmo can be downloaded here:

horror film & nuke

ZFX250It seems like forever since I have been able to post a new entry here, life has been extremely busy. I am working on visual effects for a horror film called Shriven and posted just a couple of the shots to the vfx section of my site. Check them out and let me know what you think!

For this project, I have had the luxury of being able to work with Nuke 5.1 from The Foundry. Having worked with Shake first, I decide to give the PLE of Nuke a try at home before making a fool of myself at the facility. I must say this application is top notch, and having a background in node based compositing made Nuke quite easy to pick up quickly. There are slight differences (mainly in keyboard controls) which annoyed me at first; however now I find it difficult to go back to Shake. I think Nuke as won my heart.

In this post I will highlight some of the features of the animation (which can be viewed HERE) such as modeling a drop, modeling the stamp (using paths from Illustrator), use of the certain deformers.

inaugural post

After spending the last 10 years helping people build websites and setting up a web presence, I decided it was time that I setup one for myself. When doing so I realized that what I want is just a place to showcase my work, hobbies and interests. In the end I decided a blog would do just fine and set out to setup this site. If you are reading this, either you know me or we have similar interests either way I am glad you found me!
